He has recorded and toured with such artists as Freddy Fender, Randy Meisner, Billy Swan, and Charlie Rich, Jr. Monnett sings as well as plays the guitar, pedal steel guitar, mandolin and Dobro. He is the great-grandson of musician Wilbur Monnett, who played coronet and trumpet for John Phillip Sousa and Arthur Pryor.
