has gloss | eng: Terahertz spectrometry is spectrometry using terahertz radiation. In general, spectrometry is the spectroscopic technique used to measure the properties of a system, e.g. to assess the concentration or amount of a given species. However, terahertz spectrometry goes beyond this traditional definition. In addition to measuring concentration and/or other analytical properties, it can also identify the species via what is known as a molecular signature spectrum. This signature spectrum is usually not available from other kinds of spectroscopy because some molecular events happen only in the terahertz range that can be probed only by terahertz spectrometry. |
