has gloss	heb: כיפה היא גוף תלת-ממדי, המוגדר על ידי מישור בסיס כלשהו החותך כדור. בדומה לכדור, כיפה מוגדרת על ידי אוסף נקודות הנמצאות במרחק שווה, הרדיוס, מנקודה מסוימת במרחב אלא שבניגוד לכדור שלם, לא כל הנקודות אשר יכולות לקיים תנאי זה מהוות חלק מן הכיפה. הכיפה היא למעשה כדור שנחתך במישור מסוים אשר יצר עיגול שלם על מישור זה אשר היקפו נמצא על גבי מעטפת הכדור החתוך. מרכז המעגל חופף את מרכז הכיפה רק במידה והכיפה היא חצי כדור בדיוק. בכיפה שטוחה שהיא חיתוך המשאיר פחות מחצי כדור, מרכז הכיפה נמצא מחוץ לנפחה ואילו כיפה הגדולה מחצי כדור, מרכזה נמצא בתוך נפחה.
