has gloss	eng: A bokode is a type of data tag which holds thousands of times more information than a barcode. They have been developed by a team at the MIT Media Lab. The bokode pattern is a tiled series of Data Matrix codes. The name is a portmanteau of the words bokeh (a photographic term) and barcode - rewritable bokode are called bocode. They are much smaller than a barcode, and are circular in shape with a diameter of 3mm. A bokode consists of an LED, covered with a mask and a lens. They are readable from different angles and from 4 meters (13 feet) away by a SLR camera. Currently they are expensive to produce as the LED requires power, but there are prototypes which rely just on reflected light. There is a privacy advantage compared to Radio-frequency identification tags: bokodes can be covered up, whereas active as well as passive RFID tags can be read at a distance with equipment that can receive radio signals.

Le nom est issu dun jeu sur les mots bokeh (un terme photographique) et code-barre. Ils sont plus petits quun code-barre simple et sont de forme circulaire avec un diamètre de 3mm. Un bokode est constitué dune LED, recouverte dun masque et dune lentille. Ils sont lisibles sous différents angles et à 4 mètres de distance par un téléphone mobile équipé dun capteur vidéo. Pour le moment ils sont chers à produire étant donné le besoin en énergie d'une LED, mais il existe des prototypes qui reposent simplement sur la réflexion de la lumière.
