| has gloss | eng: Armet (in hungarian: Csőrsisak "peacked helmet") is the name of a type of helmet developed in the 15th century, most likely in Italy, France, Spain and Hungary. It was distinguished by being the first helmet of its era to completely enclose the head while being compact and light enough to move with the wearer. The typical armet consisted of four pieces: the skull, the two hinged cheek pieces which lock at the front, and the visor. A multi-part reinforcement for the bottom half of the face, known as a wrapper, was sometimes added, and its straps attached to a metal disc at the base of the skull piece called a rondel. It reached its height of popularity during the 15th and 16th centuries when knights in medieval Europe wore plate armor into battle. Movable face and cheek pieces allowed the wearer to close the helmet, thus fully protecting the head from blows. |

| has gloss | deu: Als Armet wird ein Visierhelm italienischen Ursprungs bezeichnet, der um 1420 aus der Hundsgugel entstand. Die eng anliegende Helmglocke des Armets mündete in einen schmalen Nackenstreifen, an dem eine Stielscheibe angebracht war. An der Glocke hingen zwei große Backenstücke in Scharnieren, zudem war an ihr ein aufschlächtiges Kantenvisier mit Drehbolzen befestigt. Die Backenstücke wurden auf der Vorderseite verschlossen und bildeten auf diese Weise ein Kinnreff. Zu einem Armet wurde häufig ein als Hals- und Kinnschutz dienender Bart getragen, der mit Lederriemen im Nackenbereich verschnallt wurde. Zu Beginn des 16. Jahrhunderts gingen aus dem Armet der Deutsche Visierhelm und der Geschlossene Helm hervor. Auch der um 1525 entwickelte Mantelhelm leitet sich vom Armet ab. |

Charakteryzował się kulistym dzwonem, zwykle z grzebieniem na szczycie, przylegającymi do twarzy osłonami policzków, oraz podnoszoną do góry zasłona twarzy. Armet był pierwszym hełmem całkowicie zakrywającym głowę, ale jednocześnie o na tyle lekkiej i zwartej konstrukcji, że nie krępował ruchów głowy jeźdźca. W odróżnieniu od hełmu zamkniętego posiadał możliwość rozpięcia osłon policzków i otwarcia ich na boki. Często stosowano również dodatkową osłonę dolnej części twarzy i szyi. Armet stanowił część zbroi płytowej. |

Характерной чертой этого шлема являлся подбородник, состоящий из двух раскрывающихся половинок, в закрытом положении соединяемых штифтом. Оснащался ронделем (диском на затылочной части), служащим для защиты ремня дополнительного подбородника (чехла), также мог снабжаться кольчужной бармицей. Имел характерное острое забрало (так называемый «воробьиный клюв»). Обычно использовался в комплекте с итальянским «миланским» доспехом, в 16-ом веке стал использоваться в Германии с «максимиллиановскими» латами. В это же время подбородник из двух частей заменяется цельным, сидящим на одной оси с забралом — таким образом армет трансформируется в «закрытый шлем» (closehelmet). Первые экземпляры арметов имели коническую форму купола,что что свидетельствует о происхождении данного типа шлема от бацинета. |
