has gloss	eng: The Yuma Expedition was a U.S. Army military operation from December, 1851, to April, 1852 in the Yuma War. It was led by Major Samuel P. Heintzelman, to control the unrest of the Yuma Indians on the lower Colorado River region of California. This operation was part of a larger campaign to control Native Americans before the outbreak of the Civil War, and is part of the long history of Indian Wars between the United States and Native Americans.
