e/Nakisa

Information
has glosseng: Nakisa is the Arabicized pronunciation of the word Nagisa. Both names originate from the Persian word Negin(meaning jewel). Many Persian words have Arabic pronunciations and some have changed over time completely to the Arabic form. The Arabic alphabet is similar to that of the Persian alphabet, yet lacks certain letters such as: G and P. Therefore words such as Nagisa will be pronounced as Nakisa. However, in modern Persian, both are still accepted. Another example of such words is Narges, which is a flower, and like Nagisa, is a Persian name, primarily used in female first names. Narges in Arabic would be pronounced as Narjes and both pronunciations are used today. However, some words have taken the Arabic form, and the original Persian pronunciations are no longer used and are incorrect.
