has gloss	eng: The Office of Lieutenant Governor of Louisiana is the second highest state office in Louisiana. The current Lieutenant Governor is Mitch Landrieu, a Democrat. Landrieu was elected to the office of Mayor of New Orleans on February 6, 2010 and is expected to resign as Lieutenant Governor to assume the mayoral office on May 3, 2010. As prescribed in the Louisiana Constitution, Governor Bobby Jindal is then expected to appoint an interim successor to serve until a special election can be held later in 2010 to permanently fill the vacancy.
