When being addressed in a classroom setting, he prefers to be called Dr. Harty or Mr. Harty. He is considered one of the foremost authorities on the legend of Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox. Currently, he teaches cultural geography at the University of Wyoming. Recently, Dr. Harty was nominated for Most Eligible Bachelor of Wyoming. A survey taken at the University of Wyoming during the Fall 2009 semester revealed that 3 out of 4 students find Dr. Harty physically attractive, and 85% of students see him as marriage material.
