has gloss	eng: Illubabor was a province in the south-western part of Ethiopia, along the border with Sudan. The name Illubabor is said to come from two Oromo words, "Illu" and "Ababor(a)". "Illu" is a name of a clan, and "Ababor" was the horse name of Chali Shone, the who founded the ruling family of the area when it was conquered by Shewa; hence IlluAbabor means the Illu belonging to Ababor(a). There is also a place called Illu-Abasambi named for the same reason in similar fashion.

Le nom "Illubabor" viendrait de deux mots oromo: "Illu", le nom dun endroit et "Ababor", le nom d'une personne; "IlluAbabor" est donc une zone appelée "Illu" et appartenant à "Ababor". Depuis 1995, la province a été divisée entre les régions Gambela, Oromia et la région des nations, nationalités et peuples du Sud.
