Heinens was founded in 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio, when Joseph Heinen opened a small meat market on Kinsman Road. After running the store for a few years, Joseph opened Clevelands first supermarket across the street from the original butchers shop. Now known as Heinens Fine Foods, the chain currently serves 17 suburban communities. It is presently headed by Tom and Jeff Heinen.
