HealthRight was founded in 1990 by pioneering physician and human rights advocate Dr. Jonathan Mann, who championed the principle that health is a human right and that health and human rights are inextricably linked. From 1990 to 2009, HealthRight was known as Doctors of the World-USA, and during that time was the autonomous U.S. delegation of the International Network of Médecins du Monde.
