has gloss | eng: A Faraday wheel is an early generator invented by Michael Faraday. The design is very similar to the homopolar generator. Unlike the Homopolar Generator the Faraday wheel does not utilize a magnetic field. The Faraday Wheel utilizes radial velocity to generate a charge potential. Two probes are placed against a metal disc at different points on a the radius of the wheel. The probes physically scrape off electrons. Since the outer rim is scraping against the outer probe faster than the inner probe a charge potential is created between the two probes. |
