has glosseng: The Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee (DSOC) was founded in 1973 by members of the Socialist Party of America who opposed the party's takeover by the pro-Vietnam War followers of Max Shachtman. DSOC (pronounced "DEE-sock") sought to concentrate its efforts upon the "realignment" of the Democratic Party into a principled social democratic organization rather than to conduct "Third Party" electoral campaigns.
