has gloss | eng: Comparative Literature Studies (also known as CLS) is an academic journal in the field of comparative literature. Definitions of comparative literature vary, but in general comparatists study literature beyond the confines of a single language or national tradition. Articles published in CLS generally adhere to this definition. CLS essays range across the traditions of Africa, Asia, Europe, and North and South America and examine the literary relations between the East and the West, the North and the South, and other possible configurations. The articles also explore movements, themes, forms, the history of ideas, relations between authors, and the foundations of literary and cultural criticism and theory. Each issue includes reviews of significant books of literary criticism that fall under the rubric of comparative literature noted above. |
