has glosseng: Beldangi-2 is the largest refugee camp, in context of its population and area, among the seven refugee camps of the Bhutanese citizens in two eastern districts of Nepal. Following the revolution of 1989, the government of Bhutan evicted tens of thousands of its southern settlers, mainly of Nepali ethnicity saying that they were the "Illegal inhabitants" who had entered Bhutan in the quest of some jobs. With no alternative left in hand, these people moved to Nepal using the Indian soil. They were given refuge by the government of Nepal on Humanitarian ground and were temporarily settled in Maidhar by the side of the Kankai river,some 600KMs east of Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. Slowly,several other International Organizations including UNHCR, International Red Cross Society started helping them providing rations, clothes,etc.Gradually the population of these refugees swelled up and were moved to different refugee camps with in Jhapa and Morang Districts of Nepal lying under Mechi Zone Far eastern Zones among which Beldangi-2 is the largest and biggest camp.
